March 24, 2026 – New Complaint Allegations
The new class complaint in the Roblox MDL significantly sharpens the plaintiffs’ theory. March 6, 2026 – More Quicksand for Roblox
A Texas judge ruled that Roblox must face a key claim in a lawsuit brought by the Texas Attorney General, accusing the company of misleading parents about its child safety protections. The court allowed the state’s false statement and deceptive trade practices claim to move forward. Texas alleges Roblox told parents that the platform uses a robust moderation system and rapidly removes harmful content when complaints are made, when in reality those protections were far less effective than advertised. While the judge dismissed a separate nuisance claim alleging Roblox facilitated trafficking through anonymous chat features, the core allegation that Roblox misrepresented the safety of its platform will now proceed through litigation.
This ruling is just the latest sign that Roblox is getting into deeper and deeper legal trouble. Texas is not alone. Louisiana and Kentucky have already filed similar lawsuits accusing the company of allowing predators to contact children on the platform. January 4, 2025 – MDL Class Action Lawsuit
Attorneys representing plaintiffs in Roblox sexual abuse cases requested the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation to consolidate federal lawsuits alleging Roblox facilitated child sexual exploitation and assault. The request proposed the Northern District of California as the coordination location, citing shared facts among the cases, the concentration of witnesses and documents in the Bay Area, and the fact that nearly two-thirds of the filings were already there.
The filing noted at least 31 related suits across 12 federal districts before 25 judges. The core allegations are consistent: predators misrepresent their age on Roblox, groom children through in-game experiences and chat, use Robux as leverage, and then move communications to outside apps where abuse escalates. Thirteen cases also name Discord, four name Snap, and one names Meta.
The motion highlights early legal battles expected to recur throughout the docket, including whether arbitration is barred by the Ending Forced Arbitration of Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment Act, how Section 230 and First Amendment defenses apply, whether platform features can be considered defective “products,” and what duties exist around parental controls, age and identity verification, and safety warnings. Centralization, the brief argues, would prevent inconsistent rulings and cut duplicative discovery and depositions.
Is this a Roblox class action lawsuit? While it’s often referred to that way, including in our title, it’s technically an MDL, which is different. Centralization consolidates all federal cases before one judge for pretrial discovery and motions, but each survivor retains an individual claim, an individual damages story, and an individual path to trial or settlement. September 9, 2025 – Finally, Roblox Does Something
Roblox has announced plans to implement age estimation across all users who use on-platform communication by the end of 2025. This will involve combining facial age estimation, government ID checks, and verified parental consent to move beyond self-reported birthdays. While improvements are being made, it may not be enough.

July 10, 2025 – Alabama Family Files Lawsuit
Recently, a family from Covington County, Alabama, filed a lawsuit against Roblox Corporation and Discord Inc. The lawsuit claims that their 14-year-old daughter suffered significant harm due to the design, operation, and marketing of the Roblox and Discord platforms.
According to the complaint, the teenager had been a regular user of both Roblox and Discord for several years. While on Roblox, she was contacted by a predator posing as a peer. He gradually gained her trust with false promises of friendship before escalating the relationship by sending sexually explicit messages and images. In January 2025, the predator traveled from another state to Alabama and arranged to meet the girl at a fast-food restaurant near her home. He then took her to a nearby location and attempted to rape her. Law enforcement intervened during the attack, finding the minor shirtless and bruised, while the predator was partially undressed and forcibly trying to remove her clothing. He was arrested at the scene and is currently incarcerated.
